Last shot before Maggie dropped the camera on the bathroom counter. Moral of the story; don't let your 3 year old play with your camera even if it buys you 10 minutes of peace to do a task that you really needed to get done, but can't remember what it was now.

Old Dog

Libby turns 9 this month. I don't know her exact birthday so we celebrate it on the first day of fall. She has started to slow down a bit, but senior food and a daily glucosamine vitamin seem to help.

Daisy has kept us busy this summer. She got sprayed by skunks three times. She does not like the camera. I think Maggie chased her with it one too many times.

Jon got back from Albany, New York last night. Jon stayed at the Stockade Inn and was there training for GE Global Research. The girls are glad to have him home and have kept him busy playing.

Maggie's First Day at First Friends

Maggie had a wonderful first day of preschool today. She was very excited to go. So excited that she woke up at 6:30 and shouted to the world, "I get to go to school today!!!" At school there were only two other students in the class. 3 more are supposed to start later in the month.

Since we were up early, we had time to do a fancy braid. Maggie wanted to make sure everone saw it and her backpack. She didn't want a new one, instead she is using the one Lucy had for preschool.

Maggie took this picture of Lucy drinking her morning cup of apple juice. She is settling nicely into first grade. They are still getting used to attending a full day, reviewing letters and other kindergarten basics and learning the routine and rules.

The girls singing, "School!" Maggie said she sang 5 songs at school today. The friend Song, ABCs, Open Them Shut Them, Itsy Bitsy Spider, and The Goodbye Song. Maggie really likes singing and was happy that the teacher played the Piano. Maggie said her favorite part about school was the slide (Ms. Bosaki went down too), singing, All of it!!!!

School Time

Lucy had her first day of 1st grade today. She has been really excited about getting back to school. Several of her friends from Kindergarten are in her class. It is hard to get her to say much, but the over all report was, "I had to whisper. We had a picnic with catsup and mustard (she told me this when I asked her why there was pink icing all over her face), and her favorite part was after school recess (we always stay and play at the playgroud 15 minutes after school).

Lucy wanted to make sure I got a picture of her lunch box. We have been having practice lunches to make sure Lucy can open different things. She did a good job eating what I packed (PB&J, grapes, cheeze-its, mini 3 muskateer and capri sun) most of it was gone. When I picked her up the straw wrapper was in her hair. Maggie really wanted her picture taken too. She is excited to start preschool in a couple of weeks. She keeps asking how many sleeps until her school starts.

Jon came with us to drop Lucy off at school. Lucy was rushing to catch up with Daddy. Maggie loved having Daddy home for the morning. He made us first day of school pancakes, brewed the coffee and pushed Maggie extra high on the swing.

Lucy's Birthday braids. The day before Lucy's birthday we got her hair done and braided. I meant to post pictures, but it was summer and we got lots of nothing done. I think I will rename summer "later". We stayed up later, we played later, we slept later, we ate later and we did lots of stuff, but put most off for later. Such as birthday thank you notes. They will be in the mail later (hopefully by the end of the week).

Merry Monday

Maggie got a new bed over the weekend. She really likes it and is sleeping through the night. WooHooo!

Maggie had everyone try out her new bed to see how comfy it is.

The girls had a great time at dance class this morning. They like to do tricks.

Close Ups

Lucy lost her first tooth this morning. She just pushed it out with her tongue and put it under her pillow. She is so excited to have a gap.

Maggie has a cold and has been super stuffy the last couple of days. She is Not a good patient. She does not like to rest and take it easy, so it takes her longer to get over her sickies.

Lucy and Maggie helped Jon paint the front closet over the weekend. The sliding door broke some time ago, so Jon rehung it with hinges. This left some unpainted parts showing, but now it is the most beautifully painted closet in town.

Maggie turned the playroom couch into a Jazzercise stage. The girls like to practice with me. My tryout to become an instructor is 2/10.

Lucy likes to dance on stage too. The girls are in the same Ballet/Tap class at the park district and will be in a recital together this May.
