Lucy's first report card

Lucy got her first report card today in swim class. She successfully completed Level B. Yay Lucy!

Ready for an office job

If anyone is looking for a person to man their front desk, Lucy is your girl. She can type, talk on the phone and is a real people person.

Lucy decided the floor needed a good scrubbing so she got out her wipes and went to work.
A few of the kids at daycare wanted the same toy. Lucy ended up with a scratch on her cheek.

19 months

Today is Lucy's 19 month birthday. It looks like she has a long day of reading ahead of her which sounds nice because it is cold and rainy here.

Great Day

Lucy had lots of fun playing soccer when we got home today. We drove down to Champaign to see some of Mommy's friends from Pavlov. Then we drove over to Nana's. Everyone was very happy to see Lucy. Mommy and Daddy had a good time too. We drove by the old house. You all will be happy to know it is being well cared for. The new owner painted it light green with dark green shutters. It looked really good. Lucy did well on the trip. She slept the whole way there and talked most of the way back before falling asleep again.

Lucy has a couple of balls that are more her size, but she still likes Daddy's best.

Quasi Chewed Gum

Have you ever tried to take a picture of a piece of gum? It's not easy to get it in focus. Especially with the camera I have. Anyway, Lucy has had a rough few days with teething but today she was back to her good old self. She had her best swim class yet tonight. She participated really well and was more vocal than normal. She even tried a couple of new things and didn't cry. She let Mom pull her around on a kick board and then she lay on a floaty on her back all by herself. When we got home Lucy was happily playing with the zipped bags. I took this opportunity to hang up our wet suits and towels. In the two minutes I was away Lucy managed to unzip my purse, take out the carton of gum, remove one piece and not spill the others, unwrap that piece and begin chewing it. All this in the time it took me to hang up two towels and two swimsuits!
Lucy has also taken an interest in her appearance. She is very good at applying chap stick. I let her play with it when I am getting ready for work. It keeps her very entertained, and she doesn't try to eat it . I have caught her trying to put it on Daisy's nose though.Part of our morning routine is giving the dogs a treat and telling them to, "Have a good day" before we leave. This morning Lucy asked to give them their treat. So, for the first time Lucy gave the dogs treats. She really enjoyed it. When we got home Lucy walked to where we keep the treats and wanted to give the dogs their afternoon treat. So she did. Then she wanted to give them another. So she did. Then she wanted to give them a third and Mommy said no and closed the door. Lucy was sad.

New Shoes

Lucy got a new pair of shoes yesterday. I had to sit her on the couch and hold her foot to take this picture. I tried action shots, but they were too blurry. They are similar to her old ones, just with flowers. The last pair of shoes lasted 5 months before she outgrew them. Hopefully we continue to be so lucky.

Wrong Way Lucy Rae

Lucy was determined to go somewhere in her stroller today.

Oh no!

Oh no! is one of Lucy's favorite phrases. She also likes to say All Right!
She didn't say much of anything today. She woke up pretty stuffed up and we spent our President's Day cuddling. Ray and Linda left about 9am this morning. It was nice to have them come visit.

Teething again

I think Lucy is working on some more teeth.

Happy Valentine's Day

Yesterday Lucy and I went to the Post Office to buy some stamps. They have a bead board similar to this one there that Lucy really liked playing with. She cried when we had to leave.
After the Post Office, we went to the store to buy some more toilet paper because all of ours got ruined in the flood. When we were there we picked out a Valentine present for Daddy and Lucy got to pick her Valentine from Mommy and Daddy.
She decided she wanted a bead board for home.

The Early Shift Curse

This is what happens when Daddy is on Early Shift at work. The pipe breaks, Jon & Lucy get bronchitis and Jon & Lucy get the worst stomach flu known to man. About once a month Jon is assigned to go into work at 6 am for a week. And each of the last three times something awful has happened.
My Hero! Yesterday morning at 4am Jon heard running water and the sump pump. He went to the downstairs bathroom to find that the pipe had burst. He spent the entire morning vacumming up water and taking care of the plumer. After the pipe was fixed he carefully insulated everything so this doesn't happen again.
Of course Lucy wan't phased by this. Daddy says she looks like she should work at Steak and Shake. Mmmm a shake sounds good.

Firegirl

We went to the Chicago Auto Show today http://www.chicagoautoshow.com/. Lucy managed to find a hat while we were there.
She got lots of smiles as we made our way through the crowd.
She likes it when Mommy wears a hat too. She made me wear it on the coach back to the parking garage.

If you haven't noticed, Lucy has taken an interest in hats. And objects that are not hats that fit nicely on her head such as dog bowls and salad spinners.
Hat dance anyone?

It doubles as a hard hat to keep her safe in the cave.
Maybe Libby wants to wear a hat too.

Morning Routine

Lucy always wants to brush her teeth when Mommy does in the morning.

Lucy spent much of the afternoon either reading to herself or having Mommy read to her.

Lucy decided she wasn't ready to stay in for the night after swim class, so she put her hat and mitten on.
She managed to get both mittens on, something I am not able to accomplish 100% of the time.

From Cupid

Lucy has started getting Valentine's in the mail. She woke Daddy up from his nap yesterday just so he would read her the book she got from Grammy Kathy.
Is that a yo-yo? Nope...it's a Super Sweet Valentine made by Grandma Linda.
Lucy was shaking the hearts around so hard it made her eye squint.
